Recently, a video shared on social media caught the attention of internet users by showing an unusual visitor on the beaches of Cancún, Quintana Roo, in southeastern Mexico . It was a crocodile that was spotted sunbathing in the hotel zone, right next to tourists enjoying their day at the
beach . The reptile’s presence surprised beachgoers, who didn’t expect to see it so close.
The situation generated both astonishment and concern among those present,
given that the crocodile was located just a few meters from where the visitors were gathered . Reactions were immediate, and many began recording the moment, capturing images of the animal
as it relaxed in the sun and let the waves gently carry it from one side to the other.
This phenomenon isn’t entirely unexpected, especially since Cancún is home to crocodiles , especially in freshwater areas like mangroves and lagoons. These reptiles are an integral part of the local ecosystem, and Nichupté Lagoon is one of the most important locations for them.
This natural area is not only a refuge for crocodiles, but also a space that harbors diverse species of flora and fauna. Conservation programs have been implemented in the region to protect these animals and their habitat .
