Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The fifth edition of the Caribbean Mexican Gastronomic Festival kicked off in Cozumel this week, featuring more than 25 chefs and cooks from across Quintana Roo, including some with Michelin recognition, solidifying the island’s role as a key culinary hub in the region.
During the inauguration, Mayor José Luis Chacón Méndez emphasized that the event strengthens Cozumel’s tourism appeal and represents an opportunity to boost the local economy through gastronomy.
The festival runs on February 21 and 22 with 50 tasting stands where attendees can exchange tickets for dishes featuring coconut, the main ingredient of this year’s edition.
State and municipal officials noted that the festival serves as a showcase to promote the state’s culinary richness and attract national and international visitors.
Special schedules were arranged for vessels like the Viking Mars and Explora 2 to facilitate tourist attendance at the event and increase economic spillover on the island.
With this celebration, the municipal government reaffirms its strategy to strengthen culinary tourism and position Cozumel as a top-tier destination in the Mexican Caribbean.
