Cozumel, QRoo — To mark World Environmental Education Day, the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC) organized the environmental fair “The Earth Calls Us,” an educational and recreational event for students from the Sara María Rivero Novelo elementary school.
During the activity, students participated in an informative talk given by staff from the Parque Urbano Corazón, which addressed topics related to environmental care, natural spaces, and everyday conservation actions.
Additionally, the team from the Directorate of Pedagogy and Social Assistance (PAS) accompanied the children in crafting handmade items and in board game dynamics with environmental themes, promoting learning in a fun, participatory, and meaningful way.
Through these playful activities, values such as respect for nature, collective responsibility, and love for their surroundings were reinforced, understanding that small actions can generate significant changes in favor of the planet.
The general director of FPMC, Juanita Alonso, emphasized that involving the community, especially children, is fundamental to sowing environmental awareness from an early age and building a society committed to natural resources.
“Environmental education is a key tool for forming more sensitive, informed, and participatory generations. When we bring this knowledge closer to children, we are investing in the present and future of Quintana Roo,” she stated.
