Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The closing ceremony of the Summer Dance Course 2025, organized by the professional dance school Coppelia’s Ballet in collaboration with the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts of Playa del Carmen, was held this Saturday. The event featured performances by alumni who have gone on to secure international professional opportunities.
Alumni Return to Showcase Success
Frida Yosif, director of Coppelia’s Ballet, emphasized that the purpose of this benefit performance was to highlight the achievements of former students who now work abroad.
“We wanted current students—those studying ballet, sports, or the arts—to see that dreams can come true,” Yosif said. “They can learn from these talented individuals, some of whom now perform with the Paris Opera, the Hamburg Ballet School, and the Monterrey School. All of them are Coppelia’s graduates, and they always return home. It’s beautiful for parents to see that their children can indeed make a living from art and dance.”
Boosting Cultural Tourism
Yosif also noted that events like this aim to strengthen cultural tourism by offering performances and spectacles that attract visitors and stimulate the local economy.
“This could be a gateway to developing cultural tourism in Playa del Carmen,” she explained. “People shouldn’t have to travel to Paris to see these dancers perform—they can come here instead. The instructors have been a strong pillar in this effort. Having all these talented individuals here is worth it. We don’t need to go far; instead, we can bring international audiences to enjoy our paradise through cultural experiences.”
The event underscored the potential for Playa del Carmen to become a hub for artistic and cultural exchange, further enriching the region’s tourism offerings.
