Armed Group Breaks Into Home

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Around 1:00 a.m., the abduction of a man identified as Lucio, 39 years old, was reported in the Payo Obispo neighborhood of Chetumal. A presumed armed group broke into his home while the victim was sleeping.

According to information provided by some witnesses, five armed individuals broke into a residence located on Retorno 21 Street between Celul and Retorno 22 Streets in the early morning hours to remove Lucio from his house. They used violence in front of the terrified gaze of his three minor children, then placed him in the private vehicle in which they were traveling. The vehicle headed toward Javier Rojo Gómez Avenue and subsequently toward Insurgentes Avenue.

Children Report Incident

Following the events, it was the minors who made the report to the emergency number to notify authorities about the abduction of their father.

Once police elements were notified, they immediately went to the indicated residence to corroborate the report. They interviewed neighbors and gathered initial evidence. Simultaneously, authorities deployed a search operation in the surrounding area.

Search Operation Unsuccessful

Despite the search operation, the father could not be located. Additionally, personnel from the Specialized Attention Group for Victims of Violence (Geavig) also went to the scene to provide attention to the four children aged 12, 10, 5, and 4 years old. This was due to the psychological and emotional impact the event had on them, so they remained in the residence with the minors until they calmed down.

Finally, after several minutes of searching in the surrounding area, authorities opted to conclude the operation without positive results. Therefore, Lucio’s whereabouts remain uncertain, leaving great uncertainty among neighbors of the area. They assured that the victim is a calm man who was not involved in problems related to the consumption or sale of narcotics.
