Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Business owners in the city of Chetumal have launched the Chetumal-Calderitas-Oxtankah archaeological-gastronomic circuit.
The plan aims to diversify the tourism offerings of the Othón P. Blanco municipality and results from collaborative work with industry entrepreneurs and listening to visitor feedback. The Directorate of Tourism Development, in coordination with the Chetubus Mobility Operator, has initiated the Chetumal–Calderitas–Oxtankah tourist circuit.
This new tourism product will connect the cultural, historical, and gastronomic richness and natural beauty of Calderitas and Oxtankah, with the goal of promoting them as an ideal option for visitors.
Residents and tourists can enjoy the Calderitas gastronomic corridor, known for delighting palates with its delicious seafood flavors and Caribbean-influenced cuisine.
They will also visit the Oxtankah archaeological site, an ancient Maya city that holds great history and once stood splendidly on the shores of the bay.
Its importance lies in Oxtankah representing a bridge between the Maya World and the first colonial contacts, being a key site within the Othón P. Blanco archaeological circuit.
The route will have a special launch fare of 100 pesos, which includes the complete tour and free access to the archaeological site.
Its first trips will be on Saturdays, December 6 and 27, with departures at 10:00 a.m. from the Fuente del Pescador and 10:40 a.m. from Calderitas.
Return is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. in Calderitas and 3:00 p.m. at the Fuente del Pescador in Chetumal.

This new circuit not only expands Chetumal’s tourism offerings but also strengthens mobility, improves the visitor experience, and consolidates a joint vision between the municipality and the sector to promote tourism development in a sustainable and strategic manner.
