Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Riviera Maya Youth Baseball League is preparing to host the second Caribbean Youth Baseball Tournament in April, with up to 38 teams expected to compete.

The tournament will take place from April 6 to 9 at the Riviera Maya Sports Complex in Playa del Carmen. Organizers anticipate participation primarily from teams in Quintana Roo and Yucatan, though they remain open to clubs, municipalities, and academies from other states.

Pedro Rascón, president of the Riviera Maya Youth Baseball League, is overseeing the event’s preparations. The tournament will feature five age divisions: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18 years old. The first four categories will have a maximum of eight teams each, while the oldest division will accommodate six teams.

Eleven teams have already registered, including the Guardianes de Mérida, Guerreros de Yucatán, Caribeños de Playa, Taxistas de Cozumel, Leones de Quintana Roo, Mariners Pérez Baseball, Venados Amarista, and DECOART Mérida.

The tournament has support from the Playa del Carmen Municipal Sports Institute, led by Alberto López Castro, and the Quintana Roo State Baseball and Softball Association, headed by Abel Fernández Damián.

During the competition, each team will play at least four games in an initial round-robin phase, followed by semifinals and finals. The top two teams in each category will receive awards, along with recognition for the Champion Bat.

Registration remains open. Interested parties can request information via WhatsApp at 984-1408986.
