The Cancun Symphony Orchestra has revealed its much-anticipated 2025 Season. This year's lineup includes seven concerts, promising a memorable musical journey at the Cancun Theater. The season is organized by the Board of Trustees for the Culture and Arts of Cancun A.C., and will feature a blend of classical music and symphonic rock.
The opening concert, "We Start with the Classics," is scheduled for this Friday. The program includes works by Joseph Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Manuel García Jurado, the chairman of the Board, shared his thoughts on the selection. "Haydn, the initiator of classicism and Beethoven's teacher, and Mozart, a prodigious genius, created an impressive number of beautiful works in his short life," he said.
The orchestra will perform "The Tempest of the Sea" on March 21. This concert will feature music inspired by the ocean and dolphins, including a lesser-known piece by Vivaldi that shares the concert's title. On April 25, renowned maestro Julio Saldaña will conduct a concert featuring:
- "The Four Seasons" by Vivaldi.
- "The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires" by Piazzolla.
A genre shift will occur on May 23, when the orchestra presents "Symphonic Queen," accompanied by a band from Xalapa that specializes in symphonic arrangements for rock. The rock theme continues on August 22 with "Symphonic Beatles," a tribute to the legendary British band.
On November 14, the Cancun Symphony Orchestra will host an "Opera Gala," featuring a selection of classic arias. The season will conclude on December 12 with the traditional "Christmas Concert," a festive and emotional finale.
In addition to the official season, the orchestra will perform a special concert for the Quintana Roo Citizen Security Secretariat's security forces at the C5 Security Complex. Other events may also be added throughout the year. The concerts are expected to draw between 500 and 600 attendees each, with a likely sell-out for the Queen tribute due to its popularity. This season is set to delight both classical music and symphonic rock enthusiasts.
