Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Benito Juárez City Council, through the Municipal Planning Institute (Implan), is preparing the launch of Ruta Mar, a new free transportation service that will allow Cancún families to access the main public beaches at no cost.
The initiative includes two routes that will connect popular neighborhoods with beaches such as Las Perlas, Langosta, Tortugas, and Fórum, with the aim of facilitating the mobility of local residents to the hotel zone during the high season.
According to Implan, the program’s promotion has already begun at city bus stops, where announcements with a QR code have been placed, allowing users to check schedules, routes, and boarding points.
Route 1 will depart from El Torito, with stops at Multiplaza Villas, ISSSTE, and La Rehoyada, starting at 10:00 hours.
Route 2 will have departures from Tres Reyes, Kusamil, and Bodega Aurrerá Tierra Maya, with the same beach destinations and scheduled returns starting at 11:00 hours.
Municipal authorities emphasized that the objective of Ruta Mar is to promote equitable access to public spaces and facilitate families’ enjoyment of the coastline without affecting their economy, especially during the holiday season.
