Cancún Minibus Driver Flees After Crashing Into Tree, Leaves Injured Passengers Behind

A damaged minibus crashed into a tree on a sidewalk in Cancún, Mexico

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A minibus driver fled the scene after crashing into a tree in Cancún on Tuesday morning, leaving four injured passengers behind.

The accident occurred around 8:50 a.m. on Tulum Avenue in Supermanzana 72. According to initial reports, the driver of the public transport Urvan van, with unit number 835, was allegedly speeding, lost control, mounted the sidewalk, and crashed into a tree.

Four passengers sustained injuries in the crash. Paramedics responded to provide medical attention; two of the injured were transported to a hospital, while the others were treated at the scene.

Municipal traffic officers secured the vehicle and towed it to an impound lot. Authorities said they could identify the driver, who fled after the accident, through union records to determine liability.
