Cancún, Mexico — The Christmas spirit is already alive in Cancún with the lighting of the first decorated roundabouts, the progress of the traditional “Burrito Sabanero,” and the installation of the Christmas tree in Plaza de la Reforma. The municipal esplanade and various points in the city have begun to transform with lights, figures, and thematic decorations that mark the start of the festive season.
Illuminated Roundabouts Kick Off Cancún’s Christmas Season
As every year, the Benito Juárez City Council installed the corridor and Christmas village at the Municipal Palace, while 13 roundabouts located in high-traffic areas will be progressively illuminated during the first week of December.
Among the first decorations lit since this Tuesday are:
- Parque del Crucero
- Monumento a la Madre
- Puerto Cancún
- Kilómetro Cero
- Glorieta del Ceviche
Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta recalled that these installations have become a tradition awaited by Cancún families since 2022.
“Our roundabouts have been a great success since the beginning of my administration. Today, girls and boys await them, and many companies have joined to adopt and decorate a roundabout. The response has been extraordinary,” she said.
Christmas Village in Tajamar and Activities for the Whole Family
In addition to the decorations in the city’s first square, the City Council confirmed that the Christmas Village at Malecón Tajamar will reopen from December 6 to January 5. The space will feature:
- Family activities
- Shows
- The traditional ecological ice rink, whose setup will begin after the international Socca event
Seven Posadas to Bring Christmas to Cancún’s Neighborhoods
The mayor announced that this year, seven posadas will be held in different neighborhoods, with the goal of bringing the Christmas atmosphere to more areas of Cancún.
“We have made great efforts so that Christmas is experienced in all neighborhoods. We want Cancún to enjoy a beautiful, family-friendly season full of unity,” she affirmed.
New Year’s Eve Dinner at Malecón Tajamar
The municipality also confirmed that, for the second consecutive year, the New Year’s Eve dinner will be held at Malecón Tajamar on December 31, from where families will welcome the first minutes of 2026.
