Cancún, Quintana Roo — The closing event of Carnival Cancún 2026 at Beto Ávila Stadium will feature one of the year’s largest security deployments, with authorities implementing strict ticket-only access, multiple checkpoints, a zero-tolerance alcohol policy, and federal force presence.

The Benito Juárez municipal government confirmed the security plan, with General Secretary Pablo Gutiérrez announcing coordination between municipal, state, and federal agencies to ensure a safe event.

The first checkpoint will allow entry only to people with physical tickets, while the second will conduct security screenings and digital ticket scanning. “Only those with tickets will enter. There will be no more distribution near the stadium,” Gutiérrez emphasized.

After discovering tickets that had been resold, municipal authorities seized them and confirmed they would not be redistributed. Gutiérrez said detailed information about possible sanctions for those who attempted to sell them irregularly would be announced soon, calling it “great work by the inspection team.”

The operation will involve Municipal Citizen Security personnel, Transit officers, Civil Protection, firefighters, the National Guard, the Mexican Army, and the Mexican Navy. “The force deployment is considerable,” the official stated, with the goal of maintaining the incident-free record seen throughout the carnival events so far.

Gutiérrez added that partial road closures and checkpoints were implemented early in the morning at strategic points along Mayapán, Yaxchilán, Kabah with Mayapán, and La Luna avenues. Authorities confirmed traffic would remain controlled until the event concludes.

The official reiterated the event’s zero-alcohol policy, reinforced with preventive checks at entrances, and said personnel would verify that people in line have valid tickets before stadium entry. Estimated attendance is 17,400 people, matching the total number of tickets previously distributed through official box offices.
