Cancún Demonstrates Commitment to Women’s Economic Development

As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence campaign, the Benito Juárez City Council, through the Municipal Women’s Institute (IMM), successfully celebrated the “Heroines Gala.”

The event was dedicated to recognizing the effort, perseverance, and vision of women who have participated in an outstanding training process to strengthen their skills and consolidate their entrepreneurial ventures.

During the ceremony, recognitions were presented to dozens of women who completed various courses, workshops, and training programs promoted by the IMM. The central objective of these programs is to provide them with key tools to advance their economic autonomy, foster their leadership, and open new opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Miroslava Reguera Martínez, head of the IMM and representative of Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta, emphasized that these actions are part of a comprehensive public policy aimed at creating safe, inclusive, and equitable environments.

The official stressed that the Heroines Gala serves as a reminder of the talent, resilience, and potential of Cancún women who work day by day to transform their lives, their community, and their city.

The head of the IMM also detailed the support figures provided to the female population, indicating that more than 44,000 services have been offered so far this year through programs such as Purple Point and Pink Employment.

Among the most requested services are:

  • 10,280 psychological services,
  • 9,225 medical services,
  • 8,266 direct supports for entrepreneurs,
  • 5,763 benefits from Purple Point,
  • 5,422 legal services, and
  • 3,129 services through Pink Employment.

The municipal department reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening training, advisory, and support programs with a gender perspective, seeking to enable more women to undertake, innovate, and become agents of change within Benito Juárez.
