Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Benito Juárez municipal government announced it will have special hours for domestic waste collection on Wednesday, December 31 and Thursday, January 1, dates celebrating the New Year.

Through a statement, it was reported that on December 31, the decentralized agency Solución Integral de Residuos Sólidos (Siresol) will collect waste in two shifts: morning, from 4:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; and afternoon and evening, from noon to 6:00 p.m.

During the first day of 2016, this Thursday, January 1, the first morning waste collection shift will begin from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while the second shift will be from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

As on the previous date, on the first day of the year, there will also be special hours for waste removal from the hotel zone, which is at 7:00 p.m., and in the large containers in residential areas in the north of the city, such as Prado Norte, Villas Otoch Paraíso, and Paseos del Mar, which will be at 5:00 p.m.

Likewise, residents are urged to properly deposit waste correctly, without exceeding the weight and in well-tied resistant bags, to avoid spills and bad odors and thus keep the streets clean.

Also Announce Special Hours for Cashiers and Service Modules

In another statement, the municipal government also announced modifications to the hours of cashier and module services due to the New Year celebration.

This Wednesday, December 31, there will be a half-day of work, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while Thursday, January 1, 2026, will be a holiday for all municipal departments.

However, citizens are invited to use other available digital and secure payment mechanisms, such as those found on the municipal government’s website www.cancun.gob.mx and the Sistema Integral de Trámites Electrónicos (SITE), which will be available 24 hours for various online procedures.

Similarly, they can use the smart payment ATMs installed outside some municipal offices and other establishments, which are: Tourist Police in the Hotel Zone; Centro de Retención y Sanciones Administrativas, better known as “El Torito,” both of which operate 24 hours; as well as those located in the Municipal Palace, which are available from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and in Plaza “Las Tiendas,” with hours of use from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
