A devastating incident occurred this Saturday at Tulum beach when a Canadian woman tragically drowned. The 28-year-old woman was swimming in front of the La Zebra Beach Club when the incident took place.
Despite immediate attempts by lifeguards and the National Guard to resuscitate her, she sadly did not regain consciousness after 20 minutes of resuscitation efforts.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the woman was discovered floating in the water. A local vendor and two tourists bravely stepped forward to pull her from the sea. The woman's mother was present at the scene and was understandably distraught by the loss of her daughter.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman may have entered the water under conditions that could have impaired her senses. However, the definitive cause of her death will be determined by the relevant authorities.
In light of this tragic event, it's important to remember what to do if someone is in danger of drowning. First, call emergency services immediately. If you're able to safely rescue the person, do so, but ensure medical help is sought straight away.
You can also provide first aid by opening the person's airways and placing them in the Recovery Position. If possible, start CPR and ask if a defibrillator is available nearby.
It's also crucial to respect the flag system on beaches, which indicates the risk level of entering the water under certain weather conditions.
