Breeze Airways announced it will begin operating direct routes between Cancun and four destinations in the United States starting in 2026, following its certification as a flag carrier by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The services will operate only on Saturdays, with the first route from Norfolk, Virginia, commencing on January 10. Flights from Charleston, South Carolina, will begin on January 17 of the same month.

Operations to New Orleans will start on February 7, followed by flights to Providence, Rhode Island, one week later. Fares for these routes will start at $99 per segment, according to Lukas Johnson, Chief Commercial Officer of the low-cost airline.

Upon receiving its status as a U.S. flag carrier, Breeze became eligible to operate routes under bilateral agreements between the United States and other countries. In addition to adding flights to Cancun, the carrier also announced service to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Montego Bay in Jamaica. Both destinations are also scheduled to begin in 2026.

"Becoming a U.S. flag carrier is a major milestone for Breeze and one that our team members have been working tirelessly on for the past three years," said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of the company.

The announced operations will be seasonal, focused on the winter period. Neeleman, who also created JetBlue, founded Breeze in 2018. The airline debuted in May 2021, during the pandemic, and had been seeking FAA certification for some time to begin international flights.

According to the Planespotters website, the airline has an operational fleet of 49 aircraft: 42 Airbus A220s and 7 Embraer ERJ-190s.
