Cancún, Quintana Roo — A lifeless man was found on Sunday afternoon in the park known as La Rejoyada, in Supermanzana 65 of Cancún, which generated an intense mobilization of security forces and ministerial authorities in the city’s central zone.
According to initial reports, the discovery was recorded at 12:15 p.m. following a call to the emergency number 911, in which citizens alerted about a suspicious bundle thrown inside the park inside a green supermarket cart, a few meters from José López Portillo Avenue, between 13 Norte and 17 streets, where personnel and public service transport units are usually parked.
Upon arriving at the site, Municipal Police officers confirmed that it was the body of a person wrapped in a white tarp. As first responders, the preventive agents immediately cordoned off the area to preserve the scene and prevent the passage of pedestrians and vehicles, even closing one of the streets adjacent to the park.
Two Municipal Police patrols remained at the site guarding the perimeter while the corresponding notifications were made to the State Attorney General’s Office. Although initially it was mentioned that the body was bagged, authorities preliminarily confirmed that the victim was covered with a white tarp.
Unofficially, it was indicated that the person would be a man, with no further details known so far about his identity, age, clothing, or the type of injuries he presented. It has also not been confirmed whether the homicide occurred at that location or if the body was abandoned later.
Criminalistics experts and agents from the Specialized Homicide Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the site minutes later to process the scene, collect evidence, and transport the body to the Forensic Medical Service. The Public Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation file to clarify this violent incident, which appears to be the second homicide recorded in Cancún so far in 2026.
