Missing teen found dead in Cancún, search cases closed

The body of Jesús Alejandro Utrera Salazar, a 17-year-old reported missing in Cancún, Quintana Roo at the beginning of 2025, has been found deceased. The search case for the teenager has been deactivated.

The Mexican minor was 17 years old, with light skin, slim build, black straight short hair, dark brown eyes, 1.60 meters tall, and weighed 70 kilograms.

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office announced on social media: “The #FGEQuintanaRoo deactivates search cases for Ismael Arturo Canché Che, Jesús Alejandro Utrera Salazar and Jesús Iván Gamboa Chi, they have been located. We appreciate your collaboration. #AlertaAmberQRoo #ServicioSocialQRoo.”

Distinguishing marks included a tattoo on the right side of his neck with a name in another language; another tattoo on his left hand of a spider; the letters “J” and “I” on his hands; a spider on the left side of his waist; and hands on the right side of his chest.

Following the identification of his remains, the search case for this young man reported missing on January 6 of this year in Cancún, Quintana Roo has been deactivated.

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office had previously activated his search case, stating: “The #FGEQuintanaRoo activates search case for Jesús Alejandro Utrera Salazar, last seen on January 6, 2025 in the Benito Juárez municipality, Quintana Roo. If you have information about his whereabouts, contact 998 881 7150 ext. 2130. #AlertaAmberQRoo.”

OTHER PERSONS LOCATED

In addition to this young man found dead in Cancún, other search cases have been deactivated, with the individuals found safe and sound.

The search case for Ismael Arturo Canché Che has been deactivated. He was last seen on November 30, 2025, in the municipality of Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

He is a 17-year-old Mexican national with slim build, light brown skin, short straight hair dyed yellow, 1.60 meters tall, and weighing 70 kilograms.

No information was provided about distinguishing marks, and it was indicated that when he disappeared he was wearing a white sweatshirt, khaki pants, and white sneakers.

The search case for Jesús Iván Gamboa Chi has been deactivated. He was last seen at the beginning of May 2025 in Cancún, in the Benito Juárez municipality, Quintana Roo.

He is 33 years old, a Mexican national with light brown skin, slim build, black straight short hair, dark brown eyes, 1.60 meters tall, and weighing approximately 55 kilograms.

He has a tattoo of a star on both shoulders, a devil heart and an angel heart on his chest, another on his right arm with the image of a bulldog, another on his right calf with the word “Familia,” and one more on his abdomen that says “Amira.” It is not known what he was wearing when he disappeared.
