Benito Juárez Plans 52 Projects with 3.8B Peso Investment

Benito Juárez municipality announces historic investment for 2026 projects

BENITO JUÁREZ, QUINTANA ROO – The Benito Juárez government has designated 2026 as the year of “Urban Consolidation,” focusing not only on large-scale sporting events but primarily on the needs of municipal residents. An ambitious package of 52 projects will be launched, prioritizing animal health, sports, and neighborhood regularization, with a total estimated public investment of 3.8 billion pesos.

Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, municipal president of Benito Juárez, highlighted that the Animal Welfare Hospital, approved during 2025, will formally begin construction next year. This center, located in the former municipal slaughterhouse facilities in Region 99, will be pioneering with its consultation rooms, surgical areas, and shelter for pets and rescued animals. The goal is to eradicate animal abuse and offer low-cost veterinary services to Cancun families.

The municipal administration also projects the creation of a new large urban park and the rehabilitation of multiple sports spaces. The strategy focuses on improving synthetic grass fields and sports domes, as well as specialized equipment to promote sports as a tool for crime prevention and social cohesion.

One of the historical demands addressed will be the paving and organization of recently municipalized neighborhoods. Efforts will be made to provide these areas, which have been neglected for decades, with basic services such as lighting, drainage, and proper streets, ensuring orderly city growth.

It should be noted that the Benito Juárez City Council approved the 2026 Expenditure Budget in December 2025, which amounts to a total of 8,253,401,057 pesos. This represents an 8.08% increase compared to the 2025 budget. An estimated 3.8 billion pesos will be allocated to public investment, including physical works and major equipment.
