Bar Manager in Cancun Ordered to Pretrial Detention on Human Trafficking Charges
Cancun, Quintana Roo — A judge has ordered pretrial detention for a man accused of running a human trafficking ring out of a clandestine bar in Cancun, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The suspect, identified as Cruz Armando N., is charged with human trafficking in the forms of procuring prostitution and sexual exploitation, allegedly involving three victims whose identities remain protected. Prosecutors say he was the manager of an illegal bar in the Supermanzana 234 neighborhood of Cancun, where he recruited women to accompany clients for money.
According to the investigation, the women were also forced to provide sexual services, and the establishment kept half of the earnings from those activities.
During a court hearing, the prosecutor presented evidence that led a judge to formally charge the suspect and order him held in pretrial detention for the duration of the proceedings. The specialized anti-trafficking unit of the prosecutor’s office is continuing its investigation to strengthen the case and ensure justice for the victims.
