Legal firm Baker McKenzie is providing counsel to renewable energy companies Envision Energy and Vive Energía for an $88.88 million refinancing agreement. This refinancing is being facilitated through the sale and issuance of 6.89 percent senior secured bonds, which are set to mature on June 30, 2039.

The funds raised from the bond sale will be used to refinance an existing agreement. This agreement is for the development, construction, and operation of the Peninsula Wind Farm, a 90-megawatt facility that will feature 36 wind turbines. The proposed location for this project is in the municipality of Progreso, Yucatán, and the plan includes all necessary measures for its interconnection.

Currently, there is a notable energy generation deficit in Mexico's southern region, despite a growing demand for this resource. The Peninsula Wind Farm aims to address this issue by bolstering the state's energy generation capabilities and promoting energy self-sufficiency. This will reduce Yucatán's reliance on other states for its energy production.

Baker McKenzie is a global firm with over 2,500 lawyers from 45 jurisdictions, offering advice in key business areas. The firm specializes in complex and cross-border transactions, with over 65 percent of its transactions being multi-jurisdictional.
