Cancún, Mexico — Agents from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the National Guard (GN) rescued 33 women, alleged victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, during raids on two establishments in Cancún. The operations were conducted under court orders issued by control judges.
First Raid Uncovers Forced Prostitution Ring
The first intervention took place at a bar located on 155th Street, between 44th and 46th Streets in Supermanzana 100. Authorities rescued 16 women—13 Mexican, two Venezuelan, and one Argentine—who were reportedly offering sexual services at the location.
According to investigations, the women charged 3,000 pesos per service, half of which was taken by the establishment’s owner. They also performed private dances for 300 pesos and socialized with clients while drinking cocktails priced at 500 pesos each.
Second Operation Reveals Similar Exploitation
The second raid occurred at a bar on Lot 12, Block 73 in Supermanzana 100, where 17 women—13 Mexican, two Colombian, one Venezuelan, and one Honduran—were rescued. These women allegedly provided sexual services for 2,000 pesos, with 1,000 pesos going to the bar’s management. Like the first group, they also engaged in private dances and drank with customers.
Legal Proceedings Underway
Following the operations, the 33 women were transported to the FGE’s headquarters to provide official statements to prosecutors. Their testimonies will be incorporated into ongoing investigations.
Authorities sealed both establishments, which are now under the custody of the FGE. No arrests were immediately reported.
The case highlights the persistent issue of human trafficking in Cancún, a major tourist destination where criminal networks often exploit vulnerable individuals. Further updates are expected as the investigations progress.
