Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Personnel from the Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat) removed a row of beach chairs belonging to Club Playa Mamita’s that were encroaching on the public sands of this popular shoreline. The action was carried out on Saturday following multiple complaints about overcrowding caused by the chairs, exacerbated by recent erosion in the area.

Enforcement Follows Public Complaints

Irving Rafael Lili Madrigal, Director General of Zofemat Playa del Carmen, stated that after receiving complaints on social media, officials conducted an inspection at the beach club to verify the reports. Madrigal emphasized that the removal ensures beaches remain accessible public spaces for both visitors and local residents.

He added that municipal authorities will remain vigilant to ensure beach clubs respect citizens' rights to freely use the sandy shores. The measure underscores ongoing efforts to balance commercial activities with public access to coastal areas.

No further details were provided regarding potential penalties or additional enforcement actions against the club.
