21kg of Meth Seized in Yucatán Drug Bust

Mexico — A shipment of 21 kilograms of methamphetamine with an estimated black market value exceeding five million pesos was intercepted while departing from Yucatán. Two individuals were detained and are under investigation for narcotics trafficking.

The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) announced that coordinated actions by the Security Cabinet resulted in arrests, search warrants, and the seizure of firearms and various types of drugs in Chiapas, Morelos, Sinaloa, Sonora, and Yucatán. In the latter state, a shipment of prohibited substances was intercepted while being transported by land to Quintana Roo.

According to the SSPC, in Yucatán, personnel from the National Guard, the Mexican Army, the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), and the State Police conducted an inspection of a bus destined for Quintana Roo. The operation led to the detention of two individuals and the seizure of 21 kilograms of methamphetamine. The confiscated drugs have an estimated value of 5.6 million pesos.

It is not known if the suspects are linked to a criminal group with a presence in Yucatán and Quintana Roo, nor is the final destination of the shipment known. Both individuals were turned over to the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR), where the investigation continues.
