Tulum, Quintana Roo — Mexican authorities arrested a suspect known as “Rambo” and rescued three human trafficking victims, including two teenagers, during coordinated raids targeting drug operations in this popular coastal city.
Officers from the Mexican Navy, National Guard, and Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office executed four search warrants at properties across Tulum, seizing drugs, ammunition, and cell phones while freeing victims who authorities say were forced to sell drugs in local bars and restaurants.
During the first raid on Kiss Street in Region 3, officers rescued one woman and arrested David “N,” alias “Rambo,” on suspicion of human trafficking. They also seized marijuana, a crystalline substance resembling crystal meth, white powder with characteristics of cocaine, pink pills similar to “tusi,” ammunition, cell phones, and official documents.
At a second location on Acuario Sur Street in Region 2, authorities rescued two teenage victims and seized cocaine, marijuana, ammunition, and cell phones.
Initial investigations link “Rambo” to a violent criminal group involved in drug dealing in Tulum. Authorities allege he recruited, transported, received, and housed victims in the city, providing them with black clothing to identify them as members of his criminal cell.
The rescued victims, who come from Michoacán, Guerrero, and Jalisco states, were allegedly forced to distribute and sell drugs in bars and restaurants along Tulum’s coastal zone under constant threats and surveillance from the suspect.
During two additional raids on Jupiter Street in Region 2 and Kukulkán Avenue in the area known as “La Selva,” officers seized marijuana and ammunition.
Authorities placed seals on the searched properties and turned over evidence and the suspect to the State Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine his legal status. The rescued victims gave statements to prosecutors and remain under protective custody.
