Cancún, Quintana Roo — A violent attempted execution occurred Thursday night on Avenida Tulum, just meters away from an ongoing police raid in Supermanzana 66, prompting a large-scale security mobilization in the area.

Shooting Erupts Amidst Police Operation

Witnesses reported multiple gunshots, causing pedestrians and drivers to seek shelter to avoid stray bullets. Upon arrival, authorities found at least six spent shell casings on the asphalt, along with a pair of abandoned sandals believed to belong to the intended victim.

Unofficial reports indicate the targeted man managed to flee during the chaos before his assailants could complete the attack. His identity and current condition remain unknown.

Municipal Police, the National Guard, and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) deployed a search operation in nearby streets but failed to apprehend the gunmen.

Simultaneous Raids on Alleged Brothels Under Investigation

The incident unfolded near a separate operation in Supermanzana 66, where FGE agents, alongside Municipal Police and the National Guard, executed search warrants at two suspected brothels as part of a human trafficking investigation.

Preliminary reports suggest the raids stemmed from complaints of illicit activities at these locations, investigated by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Human Trafficking. Authorities have not confirmed any arrests or rescues of potential victims.

The FGE has withheld further details as forensic teams continue gathering evidence from the raided establishments.
