A traffic accident scene in Tulum showing damaged vehicles after a collision

Tulum, Quintana Roo — An Argentine tourist crashed into a taxi after running a stop sign in Tulum on Thursday afternoon, causing material damage but no injuries.

Emergency services received a call around 1 p.m. reporting a collision between two vehicles in the Mayapax neighborhood, where neither driver initially accepted responsibility.

Traffic officers arrived at the scene and determined the tourist, driving a gray Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on Centauro Street, was at fault. The tourist failed to stop at the intersection with 4th East Street and struck taxi number 504, a bicolor Nissan Versa, which had the right of way.

Authorities confirmed the crash resulted only in property damage.
