The 'Truth, Memory, and Justice' group has announced the discovery of a hidden crematorium in the unregulated Tres Reyes district of Cancún. Despite notifying the authorities, the site has not yet been secured or thoroughly investigated.
During a press conference outside the Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo in Cancún, the group's coordinator, Romana Rivera Ramírez, shared details of the discovery. She revealed that human remains were found at four different locations in the Tres Reyes area, approximately 200 meters from the road that connects Cancún to Mérida.
Although there isn't sufficient evidence to suggest the site was frequently used, it appears to have been utilized on several occasions. The group discovered metallic structures and a path designed for vehicle access.
Rivera Ramírez stated that the group members discovered the site and skeletal remains this Tuesday, which they promptly reported to the authorities for further investigation. She also noted that while officers from the Attorney General's office visited the Tres Reyes area, they only collected visible remains and did not search other nearby locations where more evidence might be found.
"12 steps from where I stood, we found another location with more metal pieces, likely surgical and belonging to a person," she commented.
Rivera Ramírez concluded by expressing hope that the authorities will conduct a comprehensive investigation of the area to locate any additional human remains in the Tres Reyes district of Cancún. She also mentioned that the group members have previously found evidence of bodies discarded in dumpsites, holes, and sinkholes.
