Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Municipal authorities reported an incident involving a public transit van that resulted in a female passenger sustaining a severe injury to one of her fingers, stemming from a mechanical failure in the door's closing system as she was exiting the vehicle.
Incident Details and Response
According to a report from Ciudadana (Citizen Security) personnel, the event occurred on a public transport vehicle in the city of Playa del Carmen. A woman was injured in one of her hands while exiting the vehicle due to an error committed by the driver, who closed the unit's doors, causing severe damage to the victim's fingers.
Members of the security force omitted revealing any name or details of the injured woman. However, they confirmed the loss of the affected area as a result of the intense pressure exerted by the vehicle's closing system at the moment the passenger was disembarking.
In a related development, the driver of the van was detained and is being held by the State Attorney General's Office (Fiscalía General del Estado). The authorities will determine his legal status during the investigation and analysis phase, as he faces responsibility for the offense of negligent injury (lesiones culposas) in a traffic incident.
