Cozumel Bird Festival: A Nature Lover’s Guide

Schedule of events for the XVII Bird Festival in Cozumel from October 22 to October 26, 2025, including workshops and conferences

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The municipal government, presided over by José Luis Chacón, invites citizens and visitors, both local and foreign, to participate in the XVII Island Cozumel Bird Festival from October 24 to October 26. The event promotes the culture of bird watching and positions the island as a privileged destination for avitourism.

The seventeenth edition of the festival will be carried out with a program that includes accessible and inclusive activities such as guided bird watching tours accompanied by local guides, specialized conferences, an environmental fair with activities for all ages, and cultural presentations.

This gathering aligns with the official theme of 2025 World Migratory Bird Day, which is oriented toward promoting more bird-friendly spaces. It represents an excellent opportunity to celebrate the biodiversity of Cozumel and strengthen its recent designation as a "Bird City," consolidating the harmonious link between the community and nature.

The festival will feature a native plants workshop, in addition to conferences such as "Citizen Science as a Method for Collecting Scientific Data," "Discovering the Tern Sanctuary," "Island Cozumel Bird City," and "Avitourism as a Community Tool for Conservation." Bird watching activities and the traditional Environmental Fair will also be held.

The event is organized by a Committee integrated by the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas, the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation, the Cozumel Planetarium, the Cozumel City Council through the Sub-Directorate of Ecology, the Directorate of Tourism, the Autonomous University of Quintana Roo, the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council, the Cozumel Birding Club, the Hotel Association, as well as the groups Jóvenes MaB, Go! Aves Cozumel, and Pajareando Cozumel.
