Tragic Window Accident Claims Girl’s Life

Tixmehuac, Yucatán — A young girl died after becoming trapped and strangled in a window at her home in the municipality of Tixmehuac, in southern Yucatán. The incident occurred in the early morning hours after the child awoke to find herself alone.

The girl, who had recently served as the child ambassador for the 2025 festivities in honor of San Miguel Arcángel, died from asphyxiation. According to reports, the child's parents had gone out to a dance, leaving her alone in the house. However, the girl had been left in the care of her grandparents, who live nearby.

The tragedy unfolded when the grandfather went to check on the girl and discovered her lifeless body. She was found with her feet dangling outside the house and her head trapped in the iron bars of the window. It appears the girl woke up, unaware her parents had left the home, and upon not finding them, attempted to exit through the window. She went through feet first but became trapped and was left hanging by her neck.

The grandfather immediately notified the parents, who returned to the residence. The girl's body was transported to the General Hospital in Tekax, but medical intervention was too late.

The parents were detained by authorities for alleged failure to fulfill their duty of care and for homicide. Personnel from the Forensic Medical Service arrived at the scene to transport the child's body to their facilities.
