CHETUMAL, MX — The deputies of the Eighteenth Legislature of Quintana Roo unanimously approved a request for an "indefinite leave of absence" from Eric Arcila Arjona, the representative for District 7 of Cancún.
The legislator excused himself from the vote on his own leave request, an excuse that was granted by the full chamber. No further details were provided regarding the reason for the leave.
Silvia Dzul Sánchez, President of the Mesa Directiva, stated that the leave will be effective starting Tuesday, September 30. "The legislature reserves the right to call his substitute," Dzul Sánchez said. The substitute for Deputy Arcila Arjona is Cesar Santiago Augusto Frías Canche.
Legislative Proposal for Citizen-Focused Decrees
In a separate matter, another proposed reform was presented by Eric Arcila Arjona, who serves as the President of the Commission of Municipal Affairs. This initiative seeks to add a Fraction XIX to Article 112 and an Article 170 Bis to the Organic Law of the Legislative Power, concerning decrees approved by the State Congress that are written for easy reading and citizen dissemination.
Arcila Arjona proposed that the content of the citizen summary should include the originating initiative number, the committee issuing the ruling, the name of the person, persons, or legislative group that proposed it, key dates, and a clear explanation of the regulatory change and its consequences.
"With this, the digital legislative file housed in the Parliamentary Gazette will be enriched, which contains the Parliamentary Gazette, the Diary of Debates, the stenographic versions, and other public documents," explained the legislator. "The citizen summary must: a) Be published on the official website of the State Congress; b) Be disseminated through institutional media, both physical and digital; c) Be attached to the official file of the decree and preserved as part of the Diary of Debates."
This proposal was referred to the Commission of Legislative Affairs and Parliamentary Technique of the Eighteenth Legislature.
Recognition for Technological Institute
Additionally, the legislators proposed granting recognition to the Instituto Tecnológico de Chetumal on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding. This proposal was approved by the lawmakers.
