Cancún, Mexico — The municipality of Puerto Morelos has reaffirmed its international standing as a premier adventure destination, receiving the recognition for the seventh consecutive year at the Latin American World Travel Awards gala. Municipal President Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz highlighted the collaborative work of tourism service providers, authorities, and local communities in consolidating the region's unique experiential offerings.
Puerto Morelos and Its Award-Winning Cenote Route
During the ceremony held at the AVA Resort in Cancún, Puerto Morelos not only received the award for Best Adventure Destination. Additionally, the Ruta de los Cenotes (Cenote Route) was recognized as the Best Nature-Based Attraction Destination, an award that reflects the municipality's ecological wealth.
In a statement, Municipal President Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz said, "It is a great honor to receive this award that consolidates our municipality, thanks to the effort of all the tourism service providers who make this place a magical experience."
Among those present at the award ceremony were YouTuber Alan Estrada, founder of the World Travel Awards Graham E. Cooke, and the Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama.
"The combination of adventure, nature, and our Mayan culture makes Puerto Morelos a unique experience for tourists who visit these emblematic water caverns," highlighted the Secretary of Sustainable Tourism, Raúl Guadarrama García.
Sustainable Tourism and Local Culture
President Blanca Merari emphasized that the support of the state government and the Secretary of Tourism has been key to positioning Puerto Morelos on a global level.
The gala included a runway show by local artisans, who showcased guayaberas and huipiles, as well as traditional dress in a Mayan ceremony, highlighting the talent and cultural identity of the municipality.
Finally, Blanca Merari invited travelers from around the world to visit Puerto Morelos, where adventure tourism, rest, and gastronomy combine with sustainability and authentic experiences.
