Cancún, Mexico — In an unprecedented event for Quintana Roo, Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta enthusiastically announced the arrival of the Pokémon GO City Safari, an international event being held for the second time in Mexico, positioning Cancún as a leading destination for digital tourism. This event took place on September 27 and 28, thanks to the joint efforts of the Municipal Secretariat of Tourism and Niantic, the developer of the popular game.

Over the weekend, thousands of local, national, and international players gathered at nine of the city's most iconic locations, including the ADO Bus Terminal, Playa Langosta, and the Tajamar Malecón. The experience fused the beauty of the Mexican Caribbean with the magic of the Pokémon universe, offering participants the opportunity to explore these iconic sites while capturing virtual creatures.

Attendees enjoyed region-exclusive Pokémon and the opportunity to take photos next to life-sized statues of emblematic characters like Eevee. Furthermore, the event included interactive activities such as collectible stamp rallies and meet-ups with influencers from the gaming world, creating a dynamic and engaging atmosphere for all.

Collaboration with strategic partners also allowed for discounts on hotels, transportation, and local businesses, which generated valuable economic spillover and strengthened Cancún's hospitality. This integrative approach not only benefited the players but also served to revitalize the local economy during a period when tourism faces significant challenges.

With this initiative, Cancún joins cities like Amsterdam, Valencia, Vancouver, and Bangkok, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and diversity. President Peralta emphasized that events like the Pokémon GO City Safari are a fundamental part of her development vision for the city, which seeks to connect Cancún's rich tourist tradition with new technologies and digital culture.

In summary, Cancún does not just receive visitors; it inspires them to live unforgettable experiences, consolidating itself as a modern destination at the forefront of global tourism.
