Cancún, Mexico — Cancún has solidified its status as one of the preferred destinations for visitors from China in Mexico, ranking among the country's top three most favored sites, according to official data from the Secretary of Tourism. This phenomenon reflects a sustained increase in interest from Chinese tourists in exploring Mexican culture, cuisine, and natural beauty, with the Mexican Caribbean as its primary draw.

During the first seven months of 2025, Mexico received approximately 8,900 Chinese tourists by air, representing a growth of 13.6 percent compared to the same period the previous year. At the market level, China currently occupies the 13th position on the list of source countries for Mexico, evidencing an increasing trend in tourism and economic exchanges.

The primary destinations chosen by these travelers are Mexico City, Tijuana, Cancún, Monterrey, and Guadalajara. The majority of these tourists are in the 30 to 44-year-old age range, a segment that shows greater interest in international experiences and has increased its participation in recreational and cultural travel.

This increase in the arrival of Chinese tourists coincides with the inaugural Tianguis Turístico in China, held in Beijing in September 2025. At this event, various Mexican states and strategic projects like the Tren Maya reinforced their presence, promoting Mexico as a destination for investment and tourism of high interest to the Asian giant. This effort seeks to strengthen diplomatic, cultural, and commercial ties between the two countries, fostering greater tourism integration.

It is noteworthy that these advances contribute to diversifying Mexico's tourism offerings and broadening the international presence of destinations like Cancún, consolidating its position as one of the main centers of attraction for international visitors from the entire region.
