Cozumel, QRoo — The head of the Cozumel Reefs National Park, Blanca Quiroga García, has extended an invitation to participate in the activities and presentations of the 13th Mexican and Pan-American Congress on Coral Reefs, which will be held on the island during the month of October.
Scheduled activities include workshops on best practices in underwater photography, coral identification, and the conference "Ciclo Azul, Cozumel y su mar" (Blue Cycle, Cozumel and its Sea), all aimed at strengthening the conservation of the region's marine ecosystems.
The congress will take place on October 11, 15, and 16 in the auditorium of the Cha'an Ka'an Planetarium, with an alternate venue at the CONANP offices located in Altos Plaza del Sol.
Quiroga García highlighted that there will also be activities for children, such as the workshop "Los arrecifes de coral" (Coral Reefs), with the objective of fostering environmental awareness from an early age, allowing children to learn about the island's biodiversity and the importance of its reefs.
The congress aims to establish itself as a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences for the protection and conservation of coral reefs in Cozumel and the wider region.
