Chetumal — The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has resumed the project for the Oxtankah electrical substation, located in the city of Chetumal.
Two Projects Planned for Benito Juárez and Othón P. Blanco
The Undersecretary of Government, Nabil Eljure, indicated that the construction of this new electrical infrastructure should begin in the first quarter of 2026.
He explained that the Federal Electricity Commission confirmed it will invest 323 million pesos in two projects to increase energy capacity: one project at the Benito Juárez substation, which will begin in January 2026, and the Oxtankah substation in Othón P. Blanco, which will begin in February of next year.
Nabil Eljure commented that in August, Governor Mara Lezama announced that, following a meeting with the head of the CFE, several agreements were reached, such as promoting underground supply, the expansion of two substations, and the expansion of distribution networks in 10 municipalities to apply energy justice.

The governor announced that three programs are confirmed for Quintana Roo that will add supply capacity, with an investment of 188.67 million pesos.
These include the expansion of two substations, which are expected to be ready by December of this year; the modernization of distribution networks, which includes 17 projects in 10 municipalities, also expected to be completed by the end of 2025; and another project called Energy Justice, which includes 80 works distributed in Benito Juárez, Bacalar, Cozumel, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and José María Morelos.
Additionally, 24 actions will be carried out in Bacalar, four in Benito Juárez, 42 in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, one in José María Morelos, six in Lázaro Cárdenas, two in Othón P. Blanco, and one in Playa del Carmen.
