TULUM — National and international tourists have expressed dissatisfaction with deficiencies in basic services at Jaguar Park, one of Tulum's main attractions. Visitors reported that the drinking water faucets, which should be available for free, have been out of service for months and have not yet been repaired.
These complaints are compounded by the poor condition of the restrooms, as in most of the modules the toilets remain out of service, causing discomfort for those who visit the site. These failures contrast with the access fees charged at the location: 414 pesos for foreign tourists, 255 pesos for national visitors, and 105 pesos for Quintana Roo residents.
In interviews conducted with three visitors, discontent was highlighted over the failure to provide services that, in theory, should be guaranteed by the entry fee. A couple from Guadalajara stated that "it is not fair to pay to enter and not have water or bathrooms in proper condition, when those services are basic in any tourist center."
For her part, a foreign tourist indicated that she had planned her visit trusting in the park's infrastructure, but described it as "disappointing" to find most of the restrooms closed. She added that, as a protected area of international interest, there should be stricter supervision to maintain the facilities in good condition.
A visitor originally from Quintana Roo also expressed his displeasure, emphasizing that the entry prices do not correspond to the quality of service: "For what we pay, they should guarantee the minimum, and that includes water and functioning bathrooms."
So far, no official information has been issued regarding the causes of the lack of maintenance or the timelines for repairing the services. However, the situation has generated debate among tourists and locals, who consider that the image of Jaguar Park is being affected by these shortcomings.
The main demand of the visitors is that the corresponding authorities address these deficiencies immediately, in order to guarantee dignified facilities that are in line with the access fees. Meanwhile, the discontent persists and threatens to impact the perception of one of Tulum's most emblematic tourist projects.
