Isla Mujeres, Mexico — The Municipal Government, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, has announced the opening of the application period for the "Professor Hugo Ravell Magaña" Municipal Sports Merit Award. The award, now in its fourth consecutive year, is organized through the Directorate of Sports and aims to recognize outstanding local athletes who have brought prestige to the name of Isla Mujeres.
Call for Nominations
The Director of Sports, Fernando Bacelis Godoy, emphasized that the call for applications is open to individuals who are part of leagues, sports clubs, and sports associations, as well as those responsible for disseminating sports information through traditional and digital media. These individuals may nominate teams, groups, or standout athletes who have won medals and/or contributed through their activity and performance to the development and projection of the municipality's sports at the state, national, and international levels.
The application period will remain open until October 10. Bacelis Godoy invited interested parties wishing to nominate a candidate or to nominate themselves to visit the offices of the Directorate of Sports, located in the Salinas neighborhood, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00.
Application Requirements
The municipal official added that the rules of the call can be consulted on the official website of the City Council of Isla Mujeres. He specified that among the requirements are a nomination letter for the candidates, proof of affiliation with a state or federated sports association, or a document issued by the Directorate of Sports validating the period established by the call, a valid official identification, Unique Population Registry Code (CURP), a copy of a birth certificate, a proof of current address, a sports curriculum vitae, and evidence of athletic achievements.
With these awards, the Municipal Government reaffirms its commitment to incentivizing sports by recognizing distinguished residents of Isla Mujeres.
