Man Held in Preventive Detention for Rape of a Minor

QUINTANA ROO, Mexico — A court in Quintana Roo has ordered a man identified as Luis Fernando “N” to be formally charged and held in preventive detention for the alleged rape of a minor in the Benito Juárez municipality. The case has drawn attention to the legal system's handling of sexual crimes and the protection of minors.

Court Orders Preventive Detention

The ruling came after the State Attorney General's Office (Fiscalía General del Estado) presented sufficient evidence to support the charges of rape against the accused. The judicial authority imposed the measure of preventive prison, which will remain in effect until the judicial process is concluded. The total duration of the process has not yet been defined.

The incident occurred in late July at a residence in the Villas Lakin subdivision, located in Supermanzana 258. The victim, a minor who was under the care of the accused, reported the act after confiding in her mother. This report allowed the Attorney General's Office to compile the necessary probative elements to request the precautionary measure.

Authorities Reinforce Commitment to Child Protection

The Attorney General's Office reinforced its commitment to child protection, underlining the importance of reporting any situation involving the violation of minors' rights to guarantee their well-being. The case highlights the relevance of strengthening legal mechanisms and support services for victims of sexual crimes.

Furthermore, the state Attorney General's Office reiterated its interest in promoting a culture of active reporting to protect children and adolescents from potential threats and crimes of this nature in the region.
