Tulum, Quintana Roo — A narcomanta bearing an intimidating message was discovered early Wednesday morning at the entrance of Palma Central, a popular social hub frequented by tourists and locals. The banner contained direct threats against a group identified as "Black Tulum" and its alleged leader, a woman named Nubia Jong.

Violent Warning Targets Alleged Drug Activity

The message, written in aggressive language, stated: “We warned you. You keep selling drugs. We will find you. Don’t play games with us. We know you’re hiding in Playa del Carmen. Soon we’ll get to you. Your people will tell us where you are.”

The banner was prominently displayed at the venue, which also operates as a food vendor and nighttime entertainment spot. Authorities were alerted shortly before dawn, and Public Security officers swiftly arrived to remove the manta. No official statement was released, and local media outlets were not notified of the incident.

Authorities Handle Case with Secrecy

Reports indicate that law enforcement attempted to manage the situation with strict confidentiality, raising concerns among residents and business owners in the area. As of now, the Tulum Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection has not issued a formal communiqué or confirmed whether an investigation has been opened.

While narcomantas with threats have appeared sporadically in the municipality, their presence is increasingly linked to disputes among criminal groups involved in drug trafficking. Palma Central, located on Avenida Kukulkán, is a well-known gathering place for domestic and international tourists, prompting alarm among tourism industry stakeholders who fear repercussions for the destination’s safety and reputation.

Broader Criminal Conflict Suspected

Authorities are expected to clarify in the coming hours whether this incident is part of a larger conflict between criminal cells operating in northern Quintana Roo.
