Cancún, Mexico — Karen Ramos Díaz, president of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) in Cancún, has issued a warning to prospective buyers about the risks of purchasing irregular or unserviced properties. She emphasized the importance of consulting certified real estate professionals to safeguard investments amid a surge in sales of non-compliant developments and properties without utilities.
Protecting Buyers from Risky Transactions
Ramos Díaz explained that multiple parties, including notaries, financial institutions, and appraisers, are involved in real estate transactions. She stressed that buyers must seek guidance from trained and certified agents to ensure secure investments.
AMPI offers specialized certification programs and courses to keep agents updated on regulatory changes and legal requirements in the real estate sector. Currently, the association has 1,700 certified agents, with ongoing training initiatives to enhance their expertise and provide reliable service to investors.
Ramos Díaz acknowledged efforts by federal, state, and local authorities to curb illegal land sales and improve regulatory frameworks. She highlighted Quintana Roo’s leading position in the real estate market due to its high volume of development projects.
The AMPI president’s remarks come as part of a broader push to promote transparency and legal compliance in Cancún’s booming property market.
