Cancún, Quintana Roo — A man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a family with acid in their home in Cancún’s Region 234. Authorities responded swiftly, apprehending the suspect and turning him over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings.
Acid Attack Leaves Child and Parents with Burns
According to a statement from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit, the violent incident occurred while the victims—a man, his partner, and their two-year-old daughter—were sleeping. The attacker, identified as a direct relative of the victims, entered the home and threw a corrosive substance at them, resulting in first-degree burns.
All three victims were immediately transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Rapid Police Response Leads to Arrest
Emergency services were alerted via a 911 call, prompting police to arrive at the scene and detain the suspect. Officers from the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender-Based Violence (GEAVIG) also provided psychological and legal support to the affected family.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to taking strong action against any threats to the safety of families in Benito Juárez municipality.
