Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Playa del Carmen City Council, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, has approved two significant measures during its 20th Ordinary Session: a Summer 2025 Fiscal Stimulus Program and the designation of the "Xaman Ha" City Theater as the official venue for the municipality’s 32nd-anniversary commemoration.
Fiscal Stimulus Program to Ease Economic Burden
Held in the "Leona Vicario" hall of the new Municipal Palace, the session outlined the fiscal stimulus initiative, which will run from July 15 to August 20, 2025. The program offers discounts, subsidies, and other benefits for municipal tax contributions, provided payments are made in a single installment. The measure aims to encourage timely compliance with fiscal obligations while providing economic relief to local families.
"Xaman Ha" Theater to Host Anniversary Ceremony
In preparation for the July 28 anniversary, the council also approved the "Xaman Ha" City Theater as the official venue for the Third Public and Solemn Session of the Honorable City Council. The theater will serve as a symbolic space for commemorating Playa del Carmen’s establishment as a free and sovereign municipality.
Additionally, the council ratified the formation of a Courtesy Committee tasked with welcoming dignitaries from all levels of government. The committee will include council members Uri Carmona, Javier Renán Santos, Marian Solís, and Anaiza Quian.
Sectoral Programs for Municipal Development
During the session, the council also approved sector-specific programs under the 2024–2027 Municipal Development Plan. These initiatives will guide public policy in key areas such as social welfare, security, infrastructure, tourism, culture, health, youth, and economic development.
The approvals underscore the local government’s commitment to fostering stability and celebrating the city’s heritage as it marks its 32nd anniversary.
