Playa Norte Named Mexico’s Best Beach at Tianguis Turístico

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres has been recognized as Mexico’s best beach and one of the finest in the world, receiving a prestigious award from TripAdvisor during the Tianguis Turístico de México. The honor underscores the destination’s natural beauty and commitment to sustainable tourism.

A Triumph for Community and Conservation

Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde accepted the award, emphasizing the collective effort behind the achievement. “This award is the result of everyone’s hard work—from those who clean and care for our beaches to those who welcome visitors with a smile. It’s a recognition for Isla Mujeres and its people,” she stated.

The accolade, determined by millions of traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, places Playa Norte among only three Mexican beaches selected for the distinction, two of which are in Quintana Roo. The recognition reaffirms the island’s status as a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) and its appeal as a world-class destination.

Strategic Tourism Promotion

During the Tianguis Turístico, Mayor Gómez Ricalde highlighted the delegation’s productive engagements, including meetings with tour operators, media interviews, and direct promotional activities for Isla Mujeres and Costa Mujeres. “We are working tirelessly to attract more tourists and improve opportunities for local families. This is the new era of tourism,” she affirmed.

The event also served as the official launch of the XX International Fishing Tournament “Cosme Alberto Martínez Magaña,” a premier sporting and tourism event in the Mexican Caribbean. Scheduled for May 23–25, the tournament was announced to thousands of attendees, including travel agencies and buyers from over 43 countries, further cementing Isla Mujeres as a hub for high-level sports tourism.
