15 Abandoned Buildings Revealed in Cancun’s Hotel Zone

In Cancun's Hotel Zone, at least 15 abandoned buildings have been identified. Ricardo Archundia, the head of the Trust for Strengthening Tourism Activity in Quintana Roo (Foatqroo), confirmed this. The municipality is actively working with various departments to address this issue.

"We are conducting meetings to discuss specific cases and explore possible solutions. We don't have the exact number of abandoned buildings, but we have identified at least 15 specific locations," Archundia said.

Addressing these abandoned properties is crucial, but their private ownership makes it challenging to use government resources. As a result, the municipality is collaborating with departments like Cadastre, Taxation, and Urban Development to find ways to deal with this property abandonment.

The issues in the Hotel Zone extend beyond the abandoned buildings and include maintenance problems that affect traffic, such as lane closures. The municipality is currently examining potential solutions to minimize these impacts.
