The Yucatán Xmatkuil Fair 2024 is already stirring excitement among locals as the dates and event details are unveiled. This includes the traditional commercial and livestock exhibition, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The 2024 edition will be the first to be overseen by Alberto Basulto Soberanis, director of the Fair Promotion Institute under the incoming administration of Joaquín Díaz Mena. The official has shared updates on the ongoing renovations at the fairgrounds and the events to be included. One such event is the competition to select the next Ambassador of the Xmatkuil Fair, which for the first time, will involve representatives from all 106 municipalities in the state, culminating in three semi-finals and a grand final.
XMATKUIL 2024 Fair: When does it start?
This year, the 50th edition of the Xmatkuil Fair will run from Friday, November 8th to Sunday, December 1st. The fairgrounds will be open from 8 am to 2 am. The state government anticipates welcoming 3 million visitors, aiming to surpass the 2023 record of 2.6 million.
Entry Fee for the Yucatán Xmatkuil Fair
As of now, the entry fee for the fair is expected to remain the same as the previous year, with admission tickets priced at 31 pesos and parking at 40 pesos.
Livestock Events at the Xmatkuil 2024 Fair
Livestock events are a key feature of the fair. This year, from November 8th to 16th, the 4th National Guzerat Cattle Exhibition and the 9th National Nelore and Nelore Mocho Cattle Exhibition will be held. The ratings will take place from Wednesday 13th to Friday 15th, with the awards ceremony on Saturday 16th. The 18th Regional Sheep Exhibition Yucatán 2024 will begin on Monday, November 18th, with the rating stage on Sunday, November 24th and the awards ceremony on Thursday, November 28th.
Third Lamb Gastronomic Festival
This year will also see the Third Lamb Gastronomic Festival, taking place on the last weekend of the fair: Saturday, November 30th, and Sunday, December 1st. Attendees can look forward to a variety of lamb dishes, from traditional stews to more unique offerings. The event will be held at the sheep pavilion from 9:30 am to 4 pm.
Collective Wedding at Xmatkuil
The Civil Registry of Yucatán will once again host a collective wedding at the Yucatan Xmatkuil Fair grounds. This annual event allows hundreds of couples of all ages to tie the knot, often in the presence of Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena.
