Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reported that criminal organizations based in Mexico are offering payments of hundreds to thousands of dollars for attacks, including murder, against U.S. government officials.
In a statement issued via social media, the department stated that these payments from Mexican criminal groups escalate based on the rank of the targeted official and the specific action required.
The payments for such aggressions range from two thousand dollars to as much as fifty thousand dollars (approximately 37 thousand to over 925 thousand Mexican pesos).
According to the department's details, these organizations pay two thousand dollars for gathering personal information on U.S. agents or officials.
Payments between five thousand and ten thousand dollars are offered for kidnapping or for carrying out non-lethal attacks against officers, who could be from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Furthermore, it was asserted that Mexican criminals pay up to fifty thousand dollars for the murder of high-ranking officials from various departments.
"Our ICE officers are facing an increase of more than 1000% in assaults against them," the statement affirms.
The department assured that criminals, terrorists, and irregular foreigners "will face American justice."
