Uber has recently announced to its partner drivers and users that, following a successful court ruling, they are now permitted to operate at Cancun International Airport. This development comes after a period of tension and violence where Uber drivers were targeted by local taxi drivers.

In a statement, Uber confirmed that a judge had granted them a final suspension, enabling them to offer and request transport services near the airport terminal without the need for additional permits or concessions. The company stated, "At Uber, we reject any form of violence and promote accessible mobility for all. We want to remind you that with Uber, you can make trips from the airport, as the app is the only one with a definitive suspension granted by a judge."

Users of the platform have reported that, since Thursday, August 15, they can now request the service at the airport. They have also noted that the fares offered are significantly lower compared to those of traditional taxis.

To safeguard their partner drivers from potential clashes with authorities or taxi drivers, Uber has provided a comprehensive guide on how to respond if they are asked for receipts or if someone attempts to impose a violation. The company has stressed that drivers are not required to show any authorization, and the court suspension protects their right to operate in the area.

Uber drivers have endured frequent attacks near the airport terminal. The most recent incident occurred this week when a driver reported being attacked by a taxi driver after picking up two foreign tourists from the Rosa Negra restaurant in Cancun's hotel district. The situation escalated when a member of the tourist police arrived at the scene.
