Two Injured in Playa del Carmen Collision After Driver Runs Stop Sign

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist and passenger sustained serious leg injuries after a collision with a car whose driver allegedly ran a stop sign in the Calica neighborhood on Friday.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Avenida 45 and Calle 10 when the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta failed to stop at a fixed vertical stop sign, striking the motorcycle carrying two people, according to initial reports.

Paramedics arrived at the scene in an ambulance, provided immediate care, and transported both injured individuals for medical evaluation due to the severity of their lower extremity injuries.

Authorities took the car driver into custody pending determination of responsibility. Traffic investigators conducted on-site procedures to establish the exact causes of the incident.
